Carriers have different rules when it comes to changing your up line agency. Some companies make you go 6 months without writing business while others will make you wait 6 months but allow you to place business during that time. The fastest way to change your up line is if your current up line will sign a release stating you can move your contract. If you get a signed release, you can move your contract immediately. A copy of generic release is attached “Crowe reciprocal release” to this email. The current up line would need to put it on their letterhead, sign it and return it to you for the new up line to sign off on. Please note that some carriers such as Aetna will only accept their approved release being signed.
If you cannot get a release, the following rules would apply…
United Healthcare- you do NOT have to stop selling, but you would want to send the email asap so that the clock starts ticking. (Look at info below for how to send a notice to UHC)
Aetna and Anthem BCBS- both require you to not sell for 6 months, or obtain a written release from your FMO. (Aetna only accepts their standard release click on the link below)
Humana- Complete a Humana change form to start the 6 month clock. You can continue to write business during this time. (Humana form is attached)
SilverScript- Require you to go 6 months without writing business.
