2022 Medicare IRMAA Brackets
Each year CMS releases the Medicare Part B premium amounts. The standard Medicare Part B premium in 2022 is $170.10. This amount is $148.50 in 2021. Check the 2022 Medicare IRMAA Brackets below in this blog.
Who pays more?
The Medicare Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) is an amount Medicare beneficiaries pay in addition to your Part B or Part D premium if their income is above a certain level. Individuals making more than $91,000 will pay a higher amounts. Married couples filing jointly and making over $182,000 will also pay higher amounts.
2022 Medicare IRMAA Brackets: Medicare Part B Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amounts
Since 2007, a beneficiary’s Part B monthly premium is based on income. These income-related monthly adjustment amounts affect roughly 7 percent of people with Medicare Part B. The 2022 Part B total premiums for high-income beneficiaries are below in the 2022 Medicare IRMAA Brackets table. As noted, income from 2 years prior is used.

Part D (PDP/prescription Rx coverage) also falls under IRMAA. Those that will pay extra for their part B premium will also need to pay additional money for Part D.
