Notable Medicare Marketing Guidelines for 2020
Educational events- You are able to hand out business cards, collect consent to contact forms and obtain scope of appointment forms at Educational events. In addition, you are also able to serve meals at educations events and the maximum allowable gift amounts do not pertain to educational events. CMS also does not require agents to register educational events but the most insurance carriers do. As a result, it may be wise to register any events.
Marketing appointments and events: Marketing appointments and events are now allowed immediately after an educational event
Email Marketing- Change from last year- You are not able to send emails to MAPD and PDP prospects to solicit them for MAPD and PDP sales. The email must have an opt out feature for those that do not want any future emails. Please note, it is still against CMS rules to cold call or door knock for MAPD or PDP plans
Medicare Supplement Plans
Medicare Supplement Plans do not follow the CMS guidelines for marketing and sales. In order to see any rules or regulations for Medicare supplements, you would need to review the carrier specific guidelines.
