In most cases, Elderplan can save members money on their Medicare coverage.
Most of the plans do not have a plan premium. Clients must continue to pay the Medicare Part B premium, but will receive extra benefits and coverage that is not available with Original Medicare alone.
Elderplan offers many services that are not available with either Medicare or Medicaid. Services include; comprehensive dental, vision, hearing, gym membership, OTC drug coverage as well as prescription drug coverage. Additionally, they can coordinate client plans to help with long-lasting health problems or disabilities so they can stay in the comfort of their own home.
All the plans include prescription drug coverage. Some plans cover comprehensive dental and vision, as well as annual over-the-counter allowance and transportation. None of these benefits are included in Original Medicare.
Because Elderplan is an HMO it has a large network of providers and pharmacies. There are more than 104,870 network health care provider office locations in the New York metropolitan area. If your client’s doctor is in the network, they may continue to see them. If your client’s doctor is not part of the Elderplan network, they will invite their doctor into the network.
Members do not need referrals to see some in-network specialists, such as cardiologists, gynecologists, dentists or optometrists. Although, authorization rules do apply for some specialist services.
