What is required for renewals?
To be eligible for renewal commission every January for prior years existing business, you must finish the annual certification process by December 31 of the previous year. You need both a valid insurance license and you must be appointed to sell as well.
MA and MAPD certification process and components:
1. Aetna Medicare Certification: AHIP Medicare training and test:
The main AHIP course has 5 modules. You will have 3 attempts to pass the test. A min score of 90% will be required. After completion, there are separate modules for Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) and a test that must be passed.
-
- The standard AHIP test through the www.ahip.com site is $175 for every 3 tries. The same course is available through the Aetna site for $125.00. Aetna “Front Runners” for 2019 will be able to access the course at no cost.
-
-
If you already passed AHIP the previous year, you can take the fast track version by skipping mods 1-3 and only going through 4 and 5. You still need to complete the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training/exam. This is a quicker way to get through AHIP. Since the final test has questions on all 5 mods, it is more difficult to take advantage of this strategy. As a result, this year is trickier.
