Aetna Medicare Elite Plan Connecticut
We are giving clients some information about the Aetna Medicare Elite Plan Connecticut. The Aetna Medicare Elite plan is a Medicare Advantage Plan. This plan offers prescription drug benefits in Connecticut in both Fairfield and New Haven Counties for 2015. This plan replaced the Aetna Medicare Value plan which was available throughout 2014. Below is an outline of plan benefits along with links to benefits summaries.
- Aetna Medicare Elite has lower copays for doctors visits, lab work, hospitalization as well as outpatient surgery. There is a deductible of $1,000 that applies to some services
- The $1,000 annual deductible applies to services such as inpatient hospitalization, outpatient surgery, skilled nursing care, MRI, CAT and PET scans, ambulance and some other services
- The deductible does not apply to doctor visits, lab work, therapy, x-rays and preventative services
- As an MAPD plan there are drug benefits similar to the to other companies. It is important to note that the formulary is based on the Saver 3 formulary. There is no longer a mail order discount.
Overall:
The deductible may scare some people away. If you do the math, total costs for services such as inpatient hospital stays come out about the same as the other 4 companies who offer the plan in New Haven and Fairfield county. The Saver 3 drug formulary does have some notable drugs missing. Many other companies cover these drugs. Therefore, it is important to check to see if they include your drugs in the plan you choose. Aetna has a very robust network compared to the competitors. The medical benefits are better than other plans as long as the deductible is not triggered. This may not be the best choice for those utilizing a number of name brand prescription medications however.
