Aetna offers many types of plans to give beneficiaries the coverage choices they need.
There are several plan choices available from Aetna. the plan choices include; Medicare advantage plans, their MA plans include plans to help clients with special financial needs,called DSNP(Dual Special needs). They also offer Part D (prescription drug plans) and Medicare supplement plans. In Addition, they offer a variety of ancillary products.

Aetna Medicare sales 2020: What are Medicare Advantage Plans:
Medicare Advantage plans offer members an alternative to Original Medicare (Parts A&B). These plans er commonly referred to as either an HMO or PPO Plan. Many of these plans include Prescription Drug coverage ( Part D). Plans can also include coverage for things such as; dental care or wellness programs.
Aetna Medicare Advantage plans are available for an affordable, and sometimes NO ($0) plan premium.
Some information about MA HMO plans:
An HMO is a Health Maintenance Organization. This is a specific network of doctor and hospitals that members of the HMO must use for their health care.
Many Medicare Advantage HMO plans ask members to choose a primary care physician. This physician will help find you the right care within the network. In Most cases, HMOs require members to get a referral from your PCP before you visit a hospital or specialist.
Normally, out-of-network benefits are very limited and are reserved for emergency circumstances.
Medicare Advantage HMO-POS plans
In most cases, Medicare Advantage HMO-POS plans, give members the option to use out-of-network providers for some services. Please Note; The cost to use out-of-network providers may be somewhat higher than using in-network care.
Some information about MA PPO plans:
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans give members the freedom to choose any provider who accepts Medicare. These plans do not require a referral to use a hospital or specialist. Although staying in your plans network of providers can be less expensive.
PPO plans give you the option to you seek care from any Medicare-approved doctor. This includes providers either in or out of Aetna’s provider network, as long as they accept both Medicare and Aetna’s plan terms.
What are MA (DSNP) Dual Special Needs plans:
DSNP (Dual Special Needs) Plans benefit people who have both Medicare and Medicaid. Members must meet certain requirements to join this type of plan.
The Aetna DSNP plans are only available in the following 14 States:
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia
Prescription Drug (Part D or PDP) plans:
PDP plans help cover the cost of prescription drugs for people with Original Medicare. Aetna’s Prescription drug plans are sold by SilverScript (a CVS health Company).
There are 2 different SilverScript plans available; SilverScript Choice and SilverScript Plus.
SilverScript Choice:
This PDP plan covers a large number of generic and brand-name drugs. It includes no deductible ($0) for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 drugs. Additionally, it offers a $0 co-pay for Tier 1 drugs purchased at preferred retail pharmacies.
SilverScript Plus:
This PDP plan covers an even larger number of both generic and brand-name drugs without a deductible ($0). This plan also offers $0 co-pays for Tier 1 and $2 co-pays for Tier 2 drugs when they are purchased at preferred retail pharmacies. This plan also includes Tier 1 and 2 gap coverage.
Some information about Medicare Supplement (Medigap/Med Sup) Plans:
Medicare Supplement (Medigap/Med Sup) plans are designed to work with Original Medicare (Parts A&B) as well as with Part D , prescription drug plans. Med Sup plans provide members with coverage for some health care costs that Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover. These plans can help pay some of your out-of-pocket costs such as; co-payments, coinsurance and deductibles.
Some information about Aetna’s Ancillary products for 2020:
Even with a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan, clients may want additional coverage. Aetna offers it’s members the Senior Supplemental Insurance Protection Series of ancillary products to give clients even more coverage options. The list of products included in this coverage is as follows:
- Dental, Vision and Hearing
- Cancer and Heart Attack or Stroke
- Cancer and Heart Attack or Stroke Plus (NEW)
- Final Expense
- Home Care Plus
- Hospital Indemnity/Flex
- Recovery Care
