If you choose an HMO plan:
You choose a primary care physician (PCP) who is part of Anthem’s network of care providers. You will see this doctor for regular exams. This provider will also direct you to specialists when you need more specialized care. If you use one of Anthem’s HMO plans, you will save money with low to no ($0) plan premium.
If you choose a PPO plan:
You will still need to choose a primary care physician (PCP) who participates with Anthem’s network. However, you will not need to get a referral to see an in-network specialist. Anthem has a very large network of participating providers available. If you do require the services of an out-of-network provider, the services may cost more.
